For Marie
We always know when a storm is coming, we see the clouds forming in the distance, there is no certainty of how much time we may have, we only know we are in its path and we will have to face it one way or another. Sometimes we choose to look the other way, we want to believe that if we don’t look at it, somehow it will dissolve in time before it hits us. Other times we do as much as possible to prepare so when it gets to us, we have someway to defend ourselves. Most times we see storms that come to us in an emotional way, we know that there will be no way to avoid it, and if we have learned a mechanism to cope with the chaos we will survive. In any scenario we know that everything will just swirl in the air, the unknown will take control and we will be powerless. This is when we are taken by absolute fear, and we will be challenged to succeed and to embrace the storm. For some this means there is a test, we are being tested to survive in the best possible way. We take this test and challenge ourselves to become one with the storm, move through it and find a way out or survive it till it will continue on its path and move away. For others, the storm could produce a panic response, the brain feels as if it is been attack in all directions. The fear takes control of our actions and we make mistakes trying to resolve the best path to survive, the best way to escape. Usually, in the face of this storms we also realize we have bee given a chance to rebirth. Storms that destroy our old self make room for a new self. A stronger version of us. A better suited persona, somebody with new tools, may be even a new armor that will protect us better next time.We don’t know when we will use them, or how is that we brave the storm and survived it, all we know is that we have much more to learn about ourselves, and that no matter how hard things seem to appear in front of us, we are actually equipped to brake through and find our way to surrender to the chaos, to learn to breath calmly and listen to our brains and have clarity to re take our paths.
A storm is always somewhere out there in the distance, and at some point it will always catch with us. May be it is just a sign it is time to make room for our new self.
