Starting a new chapter

So new places open up new chapters. My friend Charly would say albeit lighter, and one can always hope it is that way.

I recently moved to a different city. Everything is very much different here. The house, for once is not as big as the others, but not as small as when I lived in California. It is interesting to recheck what makes home home. My daughters are nearby now. At least for the moment.

I refine my skills at packing and unpacking, but apparently I’m not good at discarding as much as I should have. Well, that is, we are not. I tried but it’s a two people business.

Finding the new city very different in so many ways, perhaps one of the main reason is that I have more time to think, to observe, to do nothing or do a lot, what ever I feel like doing depending of my mood.

It will be Christmas soon, and I have not seen my Mexican family in more than two years, the longest I have ever gone without taking a trip to Mexico. The pandemia changed everything, including the regular simple things like just going out without worrying about a mask, not touching my face, my eyes or my nose as I used to do.

This new chapter really started back then I guess, one can never really know when things will change forever. Friendships, relationships, places…last goodbyes.

I know it is important to keep on moving, change is good as it feeds our brain to reshape our thinking. So I open up to this new chapter, that has been hatching slowly for different reasons, but that it seems to take a better form now that a new home has been fully unpacked and we are preparing to receive the end of this very long year.
